Encapsulation films play a crucial role in protecting solar cells and extending the life of PV modules. Thornova’s strategic supply agreement with Betterial marks the beginning of in-depth cooperation between the two companies, contributing to the manufacturing efficiencies of Thornova PV modules.
As the independent US-based subsidiary of Sunova Solar, Thornova designs, manufactures and delivers high-performance and reliable solar modules to its North American customers from its manufacturing base in Vietnam. In announcing its agreement with Betterial, Thornova demonstrates its ongoing commitment to transparency in terms of its supply chain partners.
Betterial specializes in the research, development and production of functional thin films, and has a wealth of technological depth and innovation with regard to thin film materials for the PV industry. Through this agreement, Betterial will supply Thornova with high-transparency EVA and POE encapsulation films produced at its Vietnam base to meet the growing demand for Thornova's N-type and PERC modules manufactured in Vietnam.
Thornova's new N-type modules feature an EVA + POE encapsulation solution for better outdoor reliability, with Betterial's high-transparency EVA film specifically developed to improve the module's Potential Induced Degradation (PID). Betterial's high-transparency POE film, with its excellent water vapor resistance and high stability, provides Thornova modules with a proven guarantee of reliable outdoor operation.
At the signing ceremony on Oct. 18, Xian Fan, Sales Director of Betterial, said, "Betterial has had two Vietnam manufacturing bases since it started production in Vietnam in 2020, both of which are currently in full production, and the company is planning further expansion to meet the growing overseas demand. This cooperation is a good opportunity for both parties to develop together and inject new vitality into Vietnam manufacturing."
Woophen Zhu, General Manager of Thornova's Vietnam manufacturing headquarters, said, "Thornova has a strong commitment to its North American customers in terms of the origin of the materials used in its solar modules. We hope to work together with Betterial to build an efficient and stable supply chain in the future."
The successful signing ceremony demonstrates the strong belief of both companies in the future of clean energy. We look forward to this in-depth cooperation to promote the sustainable development of the PV industry and continued momentum for the global clean energy cause.
